Admission into Mainstream Schools in Singapore
International students who wish to seek school admission to mainstream public primary and secondary schools, and who will be age 7 and above as of 1 January in the year of school admission, may take part in an annual S-AEIS and/or AEIS. An applicant who passes the test is offered a place in a suitable school, based on available vacancies and his performance in the centralised test. These successful applicants can start school at the beginning of the academic year in January.
International students seeking admission to mainstream schools in Singapore should note that English is the medium of instruction and are strongly encouraged to prepare themselves before sitting for the AEIS tests. They should be familiar with the English and Mathematics syllabi of the level preceding the one they are applying for.

Student’s Pass and Long-Term Social Visit Pass
International students are required to apply for a Student's Pass to pursue a course of study in Singapore unless they are holding a Dependent Pass (DP) or an Immigration Exemption Order (IEO). Upon receiving the Letter of Acceptance from the school, the applicant must proceed to the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) to apply for a Student's Pass. Applicants who are holding a DP or an IEO can be admitted by the School immediately upon passing the school's Placement Test.
International female visitor can be granted the permission to accompany her child (with a valid Student’s Pass) during his course of study in Singapore. The international female visitor (usually the mother) is required to apply for Long Term Social Visit Pass.

It's a tough challenge for foreign students coming to Singapore, even more so for concerned parents. The good thing is, Singapore is an ideal place to receive a bilingual education, regardless of whether he/she is using Singapore as a platform or wanting to stay here for good.
The biggest obstacle for most foreign students is English. Despite having some experience in English learning or even having attended international schools before, one would soon realize it is sufficient for a place like Singapore. Singapore has a predominantly English language environment its people are generally proficient in English. However, for a foreign student without such an environment, achieving English language proficiency is a huge challenge.
A foreign student will need to take an entrance test administered by the Ministry of Education before he/she can be considered for admission to local schools. This is rather challenging. Even if he/she manages to scrape through, fear of being the subject of ridicule may result in poor performance in school.
To raise the standards and confidence of your child, an effective solution must be applied. We are able to help you find the good match of teachers and/or schools with unique teaching style and dedication that will allow the child to develop good learning habits quickly and build his/ her confidence in the shortest possible time.
